Most of our instruction is done in beautiful Carlisle Bay. The bay offers easy access to crystal clear, calm blue waters and light offshore winds. It’s an ideal location for our first time paddlers. Not only is the bay perfect for learning, but it is also one of the most beautiful paddles on the island. Some of the highlights are sunken ships that are clearly visible in the clear water of the marine park, curious and friendly sea turtles and unique views of our capital Bridgetown.
For our more advanced riders, we offer distance SUP on the south and west coasts. Paddling on the west coast (aka “The Platinum Coast”) offers views of the luxurious lifestyles of the rich and famous, and the beautiful sandy coves and shallow coral reefs that dot the shore. On the south coast of Barbados, wind-assisted SUP journeys with wave riding give you a taste of the thrills that SUP has to offer.
In the water we apply what we have learned on the land. Close contact with the instructor ensures everyone’s safety. Once all paddlers are competent we head across the bay on a 2k paddle with your instructor closely monitoring and correcting SUP techniques. You will be well on your way to being “Paddle Fit” with our SUP lessons and tours. Our paddles are usually followed with a refreshing dip in the sea, and a chance to get to know everyone. Shower and bathroom facilities are available at Carlisle Bay along with the infamous fish sandwiches from Cuz’s.
Not only is Barbadian Jason Cole a professional kite, surf and SUP instructor with over 5 years teaching experience, he is also a popular Caribbean Kids Book author, magician and marine educator. With an easygoing island-style personality he has a natural talent of putting his students at ease so they may enjoy the watery world around them. His love for SUP and the ocean are obvious, and he is excited to share that with the community.
Sarah fell in love with Barbados when she first visited in 2010. She chose Barbados as her vacation destination because of its reputation for great surf and an ideal learning environment. It was on her first lesson that she met her instructor, Jason, and her life quickly took a new direction. Sarah is now living her dream life in beautiful Barbados and running Paddle Barbados with Jason. When Sarah’s not in the sea, she’s managing the website, Facebook page and other marketing materials for Paddle Barbados. Sarah is PaddleFit Certified to ensure that all of our students are taught the proper paddling techniques and safety tips that will allow them to get the most out of their SUP experience.
